Village Square

Our Mission

Culture-forward care that meets elders where they are

Our mission is more than a statement on paper. It is a daily promise to gather elders with dignity, honor their stories, and build the kind of community that travels as they do.

The Village Square exists to create a vibrant space where African and African-diaspora elders can thrive, connect, and be celebrated.

We restore joy, dignity, and belonging by weaving culture, wellness, and community into everyday life.

Through programs rooted in tradition yet open to innovation, we combat isolation, preserve cultural heritage, and inspire new possibilities, helping our members stay active, connected, and empowered.

Because life at 50+ is not the end of the story, it’s the beginning of a new chapter, where elders lead, teach, and leave a legacy that strengthens families and communities for generations to come.

Belonging everywhere

Pop-up gatherings ensure elders experience warmth, hospitality, and connection in every neighborhood we visit.

Culture as care

Programs are co-designed with elders so traditions, language, food, and faith practices remain at the center.

Wellness that moves

From tech coaching to movement circles, each experience supports confidence, independence, and joy.

How we carry the mission

Every gathering is an opportunity to live our mission out loud. These practices keep us grounded and accountable.

  • Co-create with elders

Listening sessions and story circles guide every new program we launch.

  • Travel lightly

Mobile kits, pop-up teams, and local partners let us set up anywhere the community gathers.

  • Nurture family ties

Intergenerational events invite children, caregivers, and neighbors to celebrate alongside elders.
